The weird and seemingly unnecessary dressing room segment involving Alexa Bliss was apparently the former Women's Champion's idea. Turns out they were not lying.
It took a few weeks for those changes to be instigated but they are gradually being rolled out. One of those changes is a hat tip to the sort of thing we haven't seen in WWE since the days of the Attitude Era. Well, that's not entirely true.
WWE has never really stopped objectifying women, but it certainly does it in a less obvious way than it used to. That's why an employee walking in on Alexa Bliss while she was changing, and the hotel scene featuring Mandy Rose felt a little out of place last week. The Bliss example, in particular, felt a little odd. While the Rose and Jimmy Uso scene was part of an angle, Bliss being walked in on with her top off was not.
The former Women's Champion is a big fan of Trish Stratus and reportedly wanted to pay tribute to her in that, rather odd way. It was certainly reminiscent of a fair few times where Stratus showed off as much as she could possibly get away with on live television. Vince McMahon is also likely rubbing his hands together about the whole thing, for more reasons than the obvious one.
At the time of typing this, the risque clip has been viewed an incredible 6. With s like that, it probably won't be the only time some innocent employee walks in on Alexa Bliss while she's changing. Plus, it sounds as if all parties involved are okay with it.
There has been a lot of complaining about the segment since last week due to it not going anywhere, but WWE knew exactly what segment of the crowd it was aimed at, and it succeeded in reeling them in. Becky Lynch had gone two and a half years without being pinned in singles competition until losing to Sasha Banks on SmackDown.
